New Development: Hassle-Free Charging

One of the more interesting developments came from start-up venture Splashpower, which has adapted magnetic induction technology to do away with the need for wires, plugs and power adaplers when recharging your phone or PDA. The wireless charging platform is a flat, portable surtace less than 6mm thick, that can be powered from any electric outlet. Splashpower envisages a "drop and charge" world, where consumers will be able to walk into coffee shops, airport lounges or hotels, and drop a collection of gadgets on a SplashPad.
